Effective date: November 2, 2026. Virginia Data Center Watch is an information service operated by Sugar Island, LLC d/b/a Virginia Data Center Watch ("we", "us"). These terms apply to the website and to paid plans.

What the service is

We publish source-linked summaries of public records and reporting about data centers and related infrastructure (power, transmission, water, permits and zoning) in Virginia. Free pages are available to everyone. Paid founding plans add the alerts, search, exports and other features described on the pricing page.

Founding plans and delivery

The Virginia alert service is being built. Paid features start in stages, and we will email founding members as each feature begins. Alerts and digests will summarize reviewed official records and other sources for the localities in your plan; tell us your localities at checkout or write to [email protected]. Coverage is partial and depends on locality publication practices and access to readable records. A period with no new findings does not establish that a locality has no projects.

We distinguish recorded decisions from proposals, company claims, news reports and estimates, and we label each source and mark facts we could not fully confirm. The site is provided for general information. It does not guarantee the completeness, accuracy or timeliness of any record, and it is not legal, financial, investment or engineering advice. Check the linked source before relying on a fact.

Prices, billing and renewals

Prices are listed on the pricing page before applicable tax. Tax is calculated at checkout where it applies. Every paid plan starts with a 30-day free trial: you enter a payment method at checkout, nothing is charged during the trial, and the first payment is taken when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Monthly plans renew each month and annual plans renew each year, automatically, at the price you signed up for, until canceled. We'll email you before any price change takes effect for your plan. The VAFOUNDER promotion code gives 50% off for 12 months on Virginia plans for the first 100 redemptions and may be withdrawn after that. Payments are processed by Stripe; we don't receive or store your full card number.

Cancellation, refunds and support

Cancel any time through the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid billing period, and you keep access until then. Monthly plans aren't refunded; annual plans can get a prorated refund if requested within 14 days of the annual charge. Details are in our refund policy. For billing errors, unavailable coverage or refund requests, contact [email protected]. These terms do not limit rights that applicable law gives you.

Use of the content

You may quote and link to our free pages with attribution. Paid plans are for the number of seats purchased. Don't resell, bulk-redistribute or scrape paid content or exports, or burden the site, without written permission. Linked source documents belong to their publishers.

Corrections

To report an error, email [email protected] with the page and a source link. We review the underlying record and correct confirmed errors, noting the change on the page.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, the service is provided "as is" without warranties, and our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

Changes

We may update these terms by posting a new version here with a new effective date. Material changes will be emailed to subscribers before they take effect.
