Approved; under construction (per WTOP/InsideNoVa, Oct 13, 2026)
Board adopted a zoning text amendment 4-1 (Supervisor Culbertson dissenting) restricting new data centers to land zoned planned commercial industrial development (PCID, currently only the Vint Hill area), removing them as a permitted use in business park (BP) zones, requiring a special exception, closed-loop or air-cooled systems and underground power lines. Does not apply to the three projects already approved or in review in PCID, including operational OVHcloud (FauquierNow via WTOP).
Source: wtop.com ↗Fauquier Times (published Jul 9, 2026) reported the Board voted 3-1 for a new plan to power Remington Technology Park, a six-building, 1.8 million sq ft data center complex approved in 2018, with a private power plant on site. [Unverified: the type and capacity of the plant and the exact vote date were not confirmed from a primary source; the article says 'Tuesday night'.]
Source: fauquier.com ↗DEQ's list of issued air permits for data centers shows registration 74127-3 (Article 6 - mNSR) issued 2026-01-20 to Data Center Vint Hill LLC in Fauquier County. The list gives no project size or status; the entry says nothing about whether the facility is built.

[Unverified: SCC docket not opened.]
